We’ve confirmed with the Department of Public Works that the sink-hole will be filled beginning Tuesday March 1st after which the field will be closed for about two weeks. The field combination will be temporarily changed to ensure that club members are not present while DPW excavates the site (to preclude any possibility of exposure to landfill burn ash). This is a county requirement.
Between now and March 1st (Tues), the field is open for flying with these stipulations:
- Don’t move the barricades and tape established by the county. This means you better have your departures and approaches locked in!
- If any DPW employee is on site loading dirt, tools or equipment, all aircraft are grounded until their activities are complete.
- If the county employees are moving dirt, they’ve asked that the entrance gate be left closed (not locked) to ensure the general public don’t enter. This applies only during periods of dirt hauling.
Once we’re cleared by DPW to re-open the field, we’ll pass the word.
Thans for your understanding and support!
